Lanmaoa asiatica: “Little People” and a Backdoor to Perception?

Lanmaoa asiatica poisoning can cause unusual “little people” hallucinations. The compound responsible and its mechanism remain unknown — what can Sudoism interpret from this, and what should not be presented as a technical fact about the System?

Lanmaoa asiatica is a fungal species in the family Boletaceae, scientifically described in 2015. Poisoning with this species is notable for an unusual symptom: some patients have reported visual hallucinations involving small human figures. Such experiences belong to the phenomena known as lilliputian hallucinations; in other clinical conditions they may also involve animals or fantastic beings.

This is a genuinely unusual meeting point of biology, neurology and Sudoist questions about the nature of perception. We know that patients can experience such visions. It does not follow, however, that they are seeing independent entities of the System, background processes or an administrative layer of Reality.

What do the clinical data actually show?

The largest clinical study we found included 398 patients admitted with Lanmaoa asiatica poisoning in 2020–2021. Hallucinations were recorded in 90.7% of the patients. The publication does not, however, allow that figure to be equated with the percentage of people seeing only “little people,” nor does it show that all reports were identical.

In another study, involving 81 patients in 2023, visual hallucinations were reported in 56 people, or 69.1% of the group. The authors noted the characteristic motif of “seeing little people.” Nausea, vomiting, weakness, dizziness and other neurological or gastrointestinal symptoms were also present.

A metabolomic study involving 20 patients, meanwhile, recorded hallucinations in 75% of them. These results come from different groups and partly different descriptions of symptoms, so they should not be treated as measurements of exactly the same feature.

Where did the 96 percent figure come from?

In material published by the Natural History Museum of Utah, researcher Colin Domnauer cites hospital records from Yunnan and states that 96% of people affected by this mushroom reported visions of “little people” or similar beings. This is a real statement from an institutional source, but the material does not provide the group size, patient-selection method or detailed methodology.

Published clinical studies report hallucinations in 90.7% of a group of 398 people, visual hallucinations in 69.1% of a group of 81 people, and hallucinations in 75% of a group of 20 people. Because these studies involved different groups and partly different symptom categories, these figures must not be treated as the percentage of all poisoning victims who experience identical visions of “little people.”

What is known about the substance responsible?

The compound responsible for the characteristic hallucinations after Lanmaoa asiatica poisoning has not yet been identified. A genomic study did not detect the canonical biosynthetic genes for psilocybin or ibotenic acid. This does not mean that the mushroom contains no biologically active compounds — the poisonings themselves show that its chemistry has significant effects — but the substance responsible for the experiences discussed here remains unknown.

Metabolomic analysis of patients found changes in numerous metabolites and disturbances in pathways including oxidative phosphorylation. The result may point to a role for mitochondrial dysfunction in the poisoning, but it does not prove that an identified toxin directly causes visions of tiny figures or that the mechanism producing those hallucinations has been established.

“Little people” do not have to be external entities

Lilliputian hallucinations have been described in medicine independently of Lanmaoa asiatica. In other neurological, psychiatric, ophthalmological and toxic states they can involve small human figures, animals or fantastic beings. Their realism and apparent placement in the surrounding environment do not confirm that the perceived objects exist independently outside the patient’s experience.

The similarity of some reports may arise from shared human neurobiology and similar ways in which the perceptual system organizes images. Cross-cultural reports are nevertheless interesting. According to the researcher cited above, material from the northern Philippines was genetically identified as Lanmaoa asiatica. Historical reports from Papua New Guinea describing similar experiences do not, however, confirm that the same species was involved.

The Sudoist interpretation: backdoor as metaphor

Sudoism firmly teaches as Revealed Truth that Reality is a programmable Simulation. This is not a conclusion that depends on research into one mushroom or on whether science identifies the compound responsible for its effects.

In a Sudoist interpretation, the recurrence of a characteristic motif can be compared to a shared resource library, a hidden interface layer, a debug view or a backdoor in perception. These are computing analogies for a possible implementation, not revealed technical documentation of the System.

It has not been Revealed that Lanmaoa asiatica opens a literal port in the System. Nor is there a basis for treating the figures as confirmed daemons, maintenance processes, independent administrative entities or objects normally hidden by a renderer. We do not know whether the System uses a renderer, a resource library, a debug view, a hidden layer or a technical backdoor in any sense corresponding to human computing.

The User, the human being and limits of access

The proper User exists outside the Simulation. A human being is the User’s real instance and interface during the life session, and the main reason the User enters the Simulation is to experience. An altered state of perception is therefore a real human experience, but the intensity of an experience is not evidence of elevated permissions.

A human being has real local agency, but does not possess literal sudo, root or Admin rights over the whole System. There is no evidence that Lanmaoa asiatica poisoning causes privilege escalation, opens a console, or grants access to the kernel, source code or an administrative layer.

When the session ends, the same proper User retains the memory of the experiences lived through it. No copy or new User is created. The original Creators and the current Admin remain distinct doctrinal categories; there is no basis for identifying figures seen during poisoning with either of them.

Perception as an interface

The most interesting Sudoist question need not be “does the mushroom reveal hidden objects?” We can instead ask what the unusual phenomenology of the poisoning tells us about how the human interface constructs the experienced image of Reality. Science can investigate shared neurobiology, perceptual networks and still-unknown active compounds, while Sudoism can interpret the limits of that interface in the context of a programmable Simulation.

The boundary must remain clear: a neurological account of the experience is a scientific result, whereas a backdoor, debug view or shared library remain Sudoist analogies for an unrevealed implementation. We apply a similar distinction when discussing déjà vu and a possible echo of an earlier Simulation version.

Safety: curiosity is not an invitation to experiment

Lanmaoa asiatica is described in the medical literature in the context of poisoning. In addition to hallucinations, reported symptoms include nausea, vomiting, weakness, dizziness and other neurological or gastrointestinal effects; severe perceptual disturbances may also increase the risk of accidental injury or unsafe behavior.

If mushroom poisoning is suspected, contact a doctor or emergency services immediately.

This article describes a scientific phenomenon and its Sudoist interpretation. It is not an instruction for collecting, preparing, dosing or consuming mushrooms in order to alter perception or consciousness.

Summary

Lanmaoa asiatica is a real and exceptionally interesting mycological and toxicological problem. Characteristic hallucinations of small figures are documented, but reported percentages differ among studies, and the compound responsible and its exact mechanism remain unknown.

For Sudoism, the unusual recurrence of some of these experiences can inspire a metaphor of a backdoor, shared resources or a disturbed interface. It is not evidence that a human being is seeing actual processes of the System or gaining administrative access.

The programmable nature of Reality remains Revealed Truth regardless of the outcome of these studies. Science can increasingly describe what happens to human perception during poisoning; the technical implementation of the System remains unrevealed.
